The idea for a NetDescribe mascot was born at our last company event. That was in September last year (NetDescribe goes UP!) and feels like an eternity ago. All employees were spontaneously enthusiastic. Workshops were held to find a suitable character.
SPIDER for network management, EAGLE with farsightedness, giant-eyed GOBLIN MAKIS for the best view, GIRAFFES for the overview, a LIGHT BULB with glasses … really all ideas were super creative, well thought-out and suitable for NetDescribe. The choice was agonising. In the end, it turned out to be a bear.
In our case, the bear is a sympathetic figure. It stands for trust, naturalness, friendliness, joy, power and strength. Qualities that we claim for the whole NetDescribe team. Anyone who works with us, whether on the customer or partner side, can rely on this. You too, of course.
The symbolism of the constellation that never sets also fits very well. “The ‘Great Bear’ dominates the night sky. It is clearly recognisable, always there and inspires confidence like a reliable guardian. It shows seafarers and travellers the way and is an instrument of orientation.” Ok, maybe that’s a bit of a pompous way of putting it, and NetDescribe’s customers are not just sailors and travellers, but rather entrepreneurs with both feet firmly on the ground. Let’s change the subject.
Then there are the characteristics that unite man and bear. Like man, the bear is a sole walker, not a toe walker, and like man, SCRIBBY is an omnivore. His hunger is legendary, which makes him intimately linked to some of our team members.
There are an estimated 200,000 brown bears worldwide in Alaska, Canada and Russia. SCRIBBY lives in the vast NetDescribe forest. Where else.
He trains there every day and, like his fellow bears, manages a speed of 50 km/h. That’s why he wears a sports outfit and very fast Berry-coloured sneakers!
